From May until July 2000, I managed content and information services for an e-commerce portal called Health Exchange. The company suffered the financial turn of the time, but while working there I gained experience in new media publishing and multi-purposing documentation, to include porting to XML. It was an excellent learning experience in new technology and business models.
I freelanced over the Summer of 2000 with different publicity and graphics projects. From October 2000 until May 2001, I established a technical publishing program for ValuBond, Incorporated, an online fixed-income securities trading company. In that capacity I defined styles for both FrameMaker and MS Word, and wrote the style guide, training manuals, system administration manual, quick start guides, and corporate security policy. ValuBond's business is web-based and so I became familiar with operation and configuration of application, policy, and database server clusters running SiteMinder, iPlanet, WebLogic, Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocols, and Oracle.
