Technical Publication Design

See also editorial.

I write and edit technical materials, often for software or technology companies. Much of that work includes design of the publications, from the architecture of the contents to visual arrangement and display. The book below is an example.

Design Brief

The client, a new financial services company, had neither a style guide nor a publications plan, but had a general idea of the kinds of publications (starting with training) needed.

The book presented here is a transition document. With it, a writer can continue the publications program.

An abridged copy of the manual is in this section as an Adobe Portable Document File (PDF). I have deleted the sensitive and proprietary information (but the table of contents is intact, so that you can browse the general topics).

To summarize, the manual demonstrates both design and original writing.
